the first stop for many travellers is the Khao San road in the old-town area in the northwest of Bangkok, a short walk from the Grand Palace and other tourist sights. Never, ever, ever get in a tuktuk here, 10 baht for 1hr is indeed too good to be true, after declining, one dropped his price to just 1 baht - they are guarenteed to waste your time and take you to a tailors or dodgy gem shop where the driver gets commission.. mai mai mai, no no no!
