the statue of King Rama VI by Lumphini park overlooks the junction of Silom & the Rama IV road
when the park and statue were built in 1925 it was located on the outskirts of the city, some distance from the old centre around the Grand Palace. Nowadays it is one of the centres of Bangkok, the king's statue would have overseen the construction of all the skyscrapers in the main business area around Silom over the years, and now looks out over a very different landscape than what would have existed when it was first erected over 80 years ago.
